Big Statement… Little Trench Coat

It’s Time to put some Spring into your Style!!!!

Spring means it’s time for a lighter coat and you can’t go wrong with a classic trench coat.

But who needs something boring like black or beige?

Step into the rainbow and grab a bold and bright colour instead!

More navy… SORRY! 🙂

It must be my muse of the moment or something.

So about today’s outfit…

I always love pulling inspiration from other places, especially when it gives me ideas about how to style the coloured bottoms I have like this green pencil skirt pictured below.

Wait – but there’s no green pencil skirt in the inspiration picture!

You’re right. However, I had a similar shirt (that I never thought to wear to work because of the bagginess) and although I like the colour combination of navy and mustard… I didn’t have a mustard pencil skirt.

I did have a green one though and the look would work with any fitted coloured bottom really (might try it with my pink skinny jeans next time).

The look really works because there is a nice contrast in shapes. The top is more loose and flowy and the pencil skirt is fitted so the whole look isn’t too sloppy OR too restrictive.

Have you broken out any coloured bottoms that have been hibernating in your closet all winter?

What colour were you drawn to first? Tell me in the comments!

I don’t know if it’s just easier to admire the style of someone who looks like you…but I’ve always admired Michelle William’s sense of style.

I’ve actually had this particular inspiration photo of her for a while but never acted on it.

But anyways, last Friday was casual Friday of course and the striped top with blue cropped pants seemed like the perfect outfit for something low key but not plain old jeans…

I LOVE her tuxedo blazer with the black lapels but a) I only have a plain white one and b) I wanted to go a bit more casual since it was Friday.

That’s it for now!

Would You Wear the Same Thing Every Day? –

Little Black Dress, Signature Style

Wearing the Same Thing Everyday – Awesome? or Awful?

Now if you’re like me… and thrive on change, then this might not be the post for you.

That said, anyone that has ever been late to work because they wasted 45 min. trying to decide what to wear in the morning might just get something out of this.

So the question is whether self-imposed work uniforms are a cop-out or are they a relief that frees you up to make more important decisions? (Sounds a bit masochistic to me – just saying…)

We’re not exactly talking McDonald’s here but a little something more timeless, chic and consistent. Think… a crisp white button down, a form-skimming black sheath dress and gold jewelry or a coloured cardigan and pearls…but everyday.

I must say that there is something that appeals in having a signature look and taking all of the unnecessary thinking out of your wardrobe. It would certainly be cheaper!

[SIDE BAR – Did u know that President Obama has someone pick his clothes out for him everyday to avoid decision fatigue? Seriously! There really is something to those thousands of little decisions wearing you down.]

Now I want to hear from you!

Would you wear the same (or virtually the same thing) everyday?

Tell me your thoughts in the comments. Dying to know!
